First, they first create a clear vision and strategy blueprint for the entire team or organization. Then they will help individuals achieve a long-term work goal and be good at expressing enough interest when team members are successful. Making sure they have enough technical skills to support their employees is also an essential feature. As a manager, they have mature skills in communicating and listening to employees’ feedback and suggestions. They provide support when necessary and focus on efficiency and end results. And the last point is to avoid overmanaging people because there is a saying that too much can backfire. Finally, make your team a responsible organization. These eight key concepts help these effective managers build, evolve, and form effective teams.

I’m not surprised by the findings of the Google program because most managers today start at the bottom. To a large extent, employees have a clear understanding of the manager’s role within the team. Why are some people called “natural” managers? Because they can communicate well with others even if they haven’t been exposed to the learning of such data. They can improve their own skills and also know how to improve the whole team. An effective manager can indeed bring about effective results for the whole team. Google put a lot of effort into managing their employees, and the oxygen project is a good example of that. They use the data to take some corresponding measures and actions.
- What’s the difference between encouraging managers to be great managers and knowing what being a great manager involves?
An excellent manager is more like a manager with a combination of various skills. Besides being proficient in management, these excellent managers also need to have sufficient technologies and management functions to help employees work efficiently, just like the eight characteristics and functions mentioned in the above question. They must carry out the plan, organize, lead and control. Assist them by showing their attention and surface work such as words to ensure they can perform better in their jobs. If they want to be a good manager, they must combine various skills and methods to improve the work efficiency of the organization according to various elements and suggestions put forward by employees.
